Getaway Couple Returns After 6 Months MIA—Here’s Why

For years, Jason and Rae, the duo behind Getaway Couple, have shared their RV adventures with thousands of followers, offering a glimpse into life on the road.

But last year, everything changed. They vanished from social media without warning. Their audience was left wondering what had happened. Now, almost six months later, Getaway Couple returns and finally breaks their silence.

An Unexpected Detour

In a heartfelt post on February 20, 2025, Jason and Rae revealed why they stepped away. They became temporary foster parents to a family member.

Overnight, their lives transformed from “full-time travelers exploring the world to full-time caregivers navigating the challenges of parenthood, trauma, and the harsh realities of addiction.” It wasn’t just a lifestyle shift—it was an emotional and mental upheaval that demanded their full attention.

“The weight of it all—grief, new wounds, old trauma resurfacing—was more than we ever expected,” they shared.

Their sudden absence was never the plan. But life had other ideas.

Finding Their Footing Again

For nearly a year, Jason and Rae dedicated themselves to supporting their foster child, stepping into a role they never anticipated. It was difficult. It was overwhelming. At times, it felt like they had lost themselves.

But little by little, they started to rebuild.

“No, things aren’t magically ‘better,’ but we’re learning how to move forward,” they wrote. Part of that healing process means returning to something they love—Getaway Couple.

They announced their official return to YouTube, with new videos launching on February 23, 2025. The first order of business? Finishing their Alaska series.

“That trip was one of the best years of our life, and revisiting it feels like the perfect way to step back into something we love.”

A Year of Challenges, but Not Without Joy

While 2024 was one of their hardest years, it wasn’t entirely without light. Alongside the struggle, there were moments of joy, moments that reminded them why they do what they do. Their return post included photos from the past year, snapshots of happiness in the middle of hardship.

And, of course, they knew their audience would be wondering—yes, Carmen the dog is doing great and made a special appearance in their announcement!

A Community That Stuck Around

After nearly six months off social media, Jason and Rae weren’t sure what to expect when they finally broke their silence. Would their audience still be there?

The response? Overwhelmingly supportive.

Thousands of fans flooded their post with encouragement, sharing personal stories of similar experiences and praising them for prioritizing family over content creation.

  • “Life first, social media second, always,” one fan commented.
  • “The lovely young lady you’re watching over couldn’t have asked for better family members,” another wrote.
  • “We miss you, but you’re doing a very selfless thing,” someone else added.

For many, the announcement wasn’t just an update—it was a reminder of the strength of community, of choosing what truly matters, even when it’s difficult.

What’s Next for Getaway Couple?

While they’re stepping back into the world of content creation, their fostering journey isn’t over. They’re still navigating the complexities of their new role, and the future remains uncertain.

But one thing is clear—they’re here, they’re back, and they’re grateful.

As they pick up where they left off, finishing their Alaska series and sharing new adventures, one thing remains at the heart of it all:

Life is unpredictable, but love and resilience can guide the way.
