Keep Your Daydream Upgrades to a Super Duty F-250 for Their Airstream Adventures

Marc and Tricia from Keep Your Daydream (KYD) are rolling into a new chapter of RV life with a brand-new Ford Super Duty F-250. In their latest video, they introduce this powerhouse of a tow vehicle, sharing its specs, modifications, and what they’re most excited about as they gear up for another year of epic travel. Come along with us as we watch how Keep Your Daydream upgrades to a Super Duty F-250. Let’s learn more about their upcoming plans!

First Impressions: A Tactical and Mean Look

Marc and Tricia are thrilled with the truck’s Glacier Gray color, which appears to shift in tone depending on the lighting. The truck’s rugged aesthetic is a departure from their previous tow vehicles, giving it a more aggressive and adventure-ready look.

Marc even describes it as “tactical and mean,” a style choice that complements their Airstream and travel lifestyle.

Breaking In the Diesel Engine

Since the F-250 is a diesel truck, Marc has been carefully breaking in the engine, as recommended, by avoiding towing until the truck reaches 1,000 miles.

He’s been driving it as much as possible to reach that milestone before they officially hook up their Airstream.

Custom Modifications for RV Life

KYD never keeps a vehicle stock, and this Super Duty is no exception. They’re making a series of custom modifications to optimize it for towing and adventuring:

  • 35-inch BFG tires and a leveling kit – a change from their typical single-mission towing setup.
  • Black SmartCap Adventure Model – a metal truck cap for added storage and security.
  • Security screen for the rear window – to protect their bikes.
  • Tmat bed liner – an affordable and functional option to keep cargo in place.
  • 60-gallon fuel tank upgrade – heading to SNB in California for installation.
  • Compressor airbags – to enhance ride stability when towing.
  • Onboard air compressor with truck quick disconnect – for extra utility while traveling.
  • WeBoost antenna installation – to improve cell reception on long road trips.

Features and Likes

Marc and Tricia highlight several features they love about the truck:

  • The step-up feature makes access to the truck bed easier.
  • The panoramic sunroof is great for bringing light into the cab and making their video content look even better.
  • Dashboard redesign – including a large screen and relocated controls for convenience.
  • Pro trailer knob – making trailer maneuvering more efficient.

What They Don’t Like

While they’re overall thrilled with the truck, a few design changes from Ford left them less impressed:

  • No more keypad on the door – a feature they used frequently, now an optional dealer-installed add-on.
  • Cheap-feeling control knobs – Marc jokes about the “knob guy” at Ford retiring, leading to a decline in quality.

The Real Test: How Will It Tow?

The big question remains: How will it tow the Airstream?

  • The truck has a 6.7L high-output diesel motor with 1,200 lb-ft of torque—making it a beast on the road.
  • It’s equipped with a 3.31 gear ratio, a choice that Marc admits he wouldn’t have made if he had custom-ordered the truck, but he’s curious to see how it performs.
  • Initial fuel economy while not towing is 16.9 MPG, which is decent for a truck of this size.
  • Marc is particularly interested in how the high-output diesel engine might offset the 3.31 gear ratio’s impact on towing performance.
  • With a GVWR of 11,100 lbs and a payload capacity of 3,159 lbs, the truck has more than enough strength for their Airstream’s 1,200 lb tongue weight.

A Special Space for Charlie

Their golden retriever, Charlie, is also getting his setup in the truck. They’ve introduced a new crate system in the backseat area to keep him comfortable on long trips. While Charlie isn’t fully convinced just yet, Tricia is hopeful he’ll come around.

Saying Goodbye to Their Previous Truck

The video also includes the bittersweet farewell to their previous F-250, which now belongs to John and Dina, KYD Insiders from Texas. John flew in to pick up the truck, and they celebrated the occasion with a thoughtful gift of H-E-B tortillas and Texas-roasted coffee—a true Lone Star State welcome!

The Road Ahead

With this new Super Duty F-250, Marc and Tricia are gearing up for an intense travel schedule. Their route will span between 17,000 and 20,000 miles, crossing the country twice, hitting up the East Coast, West Coast, and the South.

They also hint at upcoming meetups and KYD Rides, so fans should stay tuned for chances to connect with them on the road.
