What Is a Military Campground?
The U.S. military has a collective system of bases across the country. It includes campgrounds and recreational areas for military personnel and their families.
People also refer to these campgrounds and RV parks as FamCamps. They offer various features and activities like fishing, golf courses, kayaking, and more.
They’re typically within a military base so that campers can use some of the bases’ amenities, too, including the gym, swimming pool, commissary, etc.

Who Can Stay At U.S. Military Campgrounds?
U.S. military campgrounds are restricted to use by active military personnel or a veteran. Most also allow a military dependent to stay.
A dependent includes immediate family and spouses, and a dependent of a disabled veteran or a member killed in combat. In addition, some military campgrounds are also open to DoD (Department of Defense) civilians.
