If you don’t have a REAL ID, visit your local DMV to update your license. Most states have been replacing the old-style IDs with the new REAL IDs for several years. If you don’t have a REAL ID and have no intentions of flying or entering federal buildings, you don’t have to panic.
To secure a REAL ID, you’ll need to visit your local driver’s license branch and present the necessary paperwork. This means having proof of U.S. citizenship, proof of your Social Security number, and two proofs of your current address.
