Tundra iForce Max: What You Need to Know

If you’re a truck person, you’re probably keeping up with the latest news on the new electric vehicles hitting the market. The Ford Lightning has turned heads but isn’t quite capable of handling the loads of some trailers. Today, we want to share more about the Tundra iForce Max. With its hybrid engine and ample towing capacity, this truck may be what you’re looking for! Let’s dive in!

Who Makes the Tundra iForce Max?

Toyota makes the Tundra iForce Max. The company also makes the Tundra and Tacoma truck lines in addition to more than two dozen cars, minivans, SUVs, and crossover vehicles. Tacoma, Corolla, Highlander, Camry, and RAV4 are the best-selling Toyota vehicles. There are 16 electrified vehicles manufactured by Toyota, including this one.

What Makes the Tundra iForce Max Different From Other Trucks?

The Tundra iForce Max features a hybrid powertrain, producing plenty of power while maintaining fuel economy. This truck can tow a travel trailer longer distances than an all-electric Ford Lightning truck. Technological features include a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control. The spacious interior provides plenty of room, offering comfortable seating for up to five people or ample storage space.

Is the Tundra iForce Max Better Than the Gas-Only Version?

The Tundra iForce Max is equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a 48-horsepower electric motor. This system produces 48 more horsepower and 104 more pounds-feet of torque than the gas-only version.

Because of the hybrid engine, this truck is also more fuel-efficient. The 4×2 models can get an average of 22 miles per gallon, while the 4×2 gas-only iForce models get about 20 miles per gallon. This allows a total driving range of over 700 miles in the 4×2 model.

If you want to go off-road, this truck has an active traction control or a multi-terrain select system in the all-wheel drive models. Although these trucks get fewer miles per gallon, they offer other benefits.

What Is the Towing Capacity Of the Tundra iForce Max?

The towing and payload capacities vary because of the various trim levels, bed lengths, and drivetrains. The model with the highest towing capacity is the 4×2 Tundra iForce Max. The Limited, Platinum, and 1794 trim levels are rated to tow up to 11,450 pounds. With the towing package, they can haul up to 17,600 pounds.

However, the 4×4 trucks have a slightly higher towing capacity with the towing package. The 4×4 models only have a towing capacity of 11,170 pounds, but this increases to 17,700 pounds with the towing package.

The payload capacities also differ. If you’re looking to tow a fifth wheel or carry a lot of cargo, the limits range from 1,485 pounds for the 4×4 Capstone 5.5-foot bed to 1,680 pounds for the 4×2 Limited 6.5-foot bed.

What Are the Standard Technology Features Of the Tundra iForce Max?

The Tundra iForce Max features standard technology in every vehicle. You’ll find a 14-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital meter, push-button start, a backup camera, trailer brake control, trailer sway control, and remote keyless entry with a tailgate release function in all models. A 12-speaker JBL premium audio system and wireless charging system are standard on all trims except the Limited.

Is the Tundra iForce Max A Good Off-Road Vehicle?

Earlier, we mentioned the active traction control and multi-terrain select system in the all-wheel-drive models. The Limited and 1794 trims offer additional features for off-roading, like higher ground clearance, off-road tires, and heavy-duty Bilstein shocks. The Tundra iForce Max is also designed to easily climb rocks and descend steep grades with its angle of departure and approach.

How Much Does the Tundra iForce Max Cost?

The Tundra iForce Max ranges from $54,615 for the 4×2 Limited 5.5-foot bed models to $75,845 for the 4×4 Capstone 6.5-foot bed models. The Capstone trucks feature 22-inch chrome and machined-finish alloy wheels, semi-aniline leather-trimmed front seats, a two-toned white-and-black interior with dark American walnut wood-grain trim, a dark chrome-accented mesh grille, an electronic locking fuel door, and power running boards with BedStep.

The 4×2 Limited 6.5-foot bed is only a few hundred dollars more than the 5.5-foot bed model. The  4×4 Limited 5.5-foot bed and 4×4 Limited 6.5-foot bed are the only other models listed under $60,000.

How Does the Tundra iForce Max Compare To Its Competitors?

Although the Chevrolet Silverado can tow about 2,000 more pounds than the Tundra iForce Max, this Toyota truck can hold its own among other leading brands. The mild hybrid engine of the RAM 1500 doesn’t produce the same horsepower as the Tundra iForce, and while the GMC Sierra is more fuel efficient, it has a smaller fuel tank. Besides the Ford F-150, which leads the way in towing by a wide margin, the Toyota Tundra iForce Max is very similar to other models in this class.

Is the Tundra iForce Max Right For You?

If you’re looking to upgrade your truck, the Tundra iForce Max may be a suitable model if you’re looking for a 5-star safety-rated truck with a comfortable interior that can get the job done. This Toyota can safely handle trailers with a GVWR of around 9,000 pounds. And if you add the towing package, this opens up your camper options even more.

The Max’s hybrid engine also makes this a fuel-efficient vehicle that can travel 600-700 miles on a tank of gas. That means fewer stops on your next road trip!
